This Dacula home needed its front porch rebuilt from the ground up — without disturbing the roof overhead. We carefully jacked up the existing porch roof, removed the old deck rails and flooring, and set three new support posts on fresh footers, re-using the home's existing roof support columns so the finished look stayed true to the house.
From there we framed a new deck with 2x10 pressure-treated joists at 12 inches on center, then wrapped the top of every joist with protective joist tape before installing Trex Havana Gold flooring and fascia — a low-maintenance surface built to outlast traditional wood. The stairs were rebuilt to match, with new stringers at 9 inches on center and Trex treads, risers, and fascia.
The railings finish the transformation: Trex Transcend handrail in white with black aluminum balusters, capped with a Havana Gold cocktail rail across the horizontal runs (the stair railing carries the same Transcend rail without the cocktail cap). The posts are 6x6 Trex sleeves over 4x4 pressure-treated cores. We also replaced the porch gutter and downspout in the client's chosen color, and painted every bit of visible new wood to blend seamlessly with the existing home.
The result is a front porch that looks like it was always part of the house — but will hold up to Georgia weather for decades with almost no upkeep.
